The up-and-coming Dutch producer landed the winning entry with his re-imagination of Nicole Bus’ “Freeline”, sampling the sultry R&B original and transforming it into a tense, emotive club cut where chopped vocals drift through tight percussion and a heavy low end, building pressure without ever fully letting go.

The release marks the culmination of a months-long competition hosted by Tracklib – the one-stop music sample and licensing platform – and Ninja Tune. Launched as part of Tracklib’s celebration of over three-decades of sampling in electronic music, the competition saw hundreds of entries and millions of views for the mega-version of Tracklib’s iconic sample breakdown video used in the launch.

With a sound rooted in UK bass, experimental pop, and ambient textures, Sim Fane’s early releases are already gaining traction in underground circles. With support from tastemakers, fellow artists, and press alike, Sim Fane is a rising voice in the next generation of electronic music.
